Some of the benefits of using Muddy
Muddy adds semantic value webpages by finding notable people, places, organisations and other entities mentioned within the text. These entities are referenced against DBpedia (which gets its data from Wikipedia), and can be connected to other information sources, used as categories, and to power new and engaging user experiences.
Disambiguating entities across domains
Muddy indexes and structures your content across the different domains of your business. So, if you have separate databases or types of content, Muddy acts as a filter to create unambiguous references for the notable entities mentioned. If a notable person in mentioned in both your events database and your news database, for example, Muddy can link these two sources together.
Because Muddy entities are part of the linked web of data, they can also be cross-referenced with other data sources, such as Wikpedia, MusicBrainz (for discography) and Geonames (for locations).
Creating aggregation pages
Muddy allows you to create a page which aggregates together all of your content relating to a particular notable entity (person, organisation, event or place). These aggregation pages can then be organised by date, topic, and so on.
Aggregation pages help people find relevant content on an entity, and allow users to follow a topic they are interested in by bookmarking the page or subscribing to an RSS feed.
Aggregation pages also perform well in search-engine optimisation.
Links and Supplementary Information
Muddy allows you to provide more information about the notable entities referenced in your content.
For example, if the oil company Shell is referenced in your content, you could automatically link to Shell's Wikipedia page, either inline from where the term appears, or as a 'related links' section within a sidebar. You could also pull information from Wikipedia about Shell directly into your webpage as a infobox, such as an introduction or key dates.
Muddy also allows you to provide internal links to other relevant pages on your own website which reference the same or similar entities.
Muddy is currently available as a free service, with paid upgrades available in the near future. See Pricing for more information.
